Kang Yatse II

Introduction

This is a 6200 meter high peak in the Ladakh range of Himalayas. Situated in a cluster of peaks like Dzo Jongo, Kang Yatse I, this is not frequented by climbers very often. This snow clad mountain poses many difficulties in climbing and is a challenging peak. Kang Yatse II peak is one of the most recommended by us.

Day to Day Program
Day 1 Drive Leh to Shang Sumdo & trek to Kongmaru La base (6-7 hours)

Early morning start from Leh hotel and drive to Shang Sumdo. Here all the trekking equipment is loaded on your waiting ponies/horses and start the walk to Kongmaru La base. This is a gradual climbing day and the walk is about 7 hours. Overnight in tents.

Day 2 Kongmaru La base to Nimaling (4-5 hours)

Climb over the 5100 meter high Kongmaru La pass and descend to Nimaling village on the other side. It will be a hectic day but about 5 hour walk. Overnight in tents.

Day 3 Nimaling to Kang Yatse II base camp (5-6 hours)

From Nimaling to Kangyatse base camp is another 5-6 hours trek with a gradual climb. Set up a camp here at base camp and take in the magrificent views of valleys and peaks around. Overnight in tents.

Day 4 Kang Yatse II base camp to Summit

This day climb from the base camp to the summit at 6200 meters. It is a hard climb and the guide will help you through it to reach the summit. To avoid the melting snow and difficulty in climbing the expedition is started in night. you can see the beautiful sunrise from the top of Kang Yatse II and descend to base camp.

Day 5 Kang Yatse II Base camp to Chokdo to Leh (7-8 hours)

This day descend from the Base camp have a quick lunch on the way and reach Chokdo village a little before Shang Sumdo. You will be picked up here by your vehicle and brought back to Leh by evening with all the satisfaction of climbing the peak.
